This posting is a paper modification trial. The materials used for this trial include: a pencil, a ruler, and a white sheet of paper. I used these materials to create a raised line to guide writing. This mini-DIY project was inspired by a video I saw on YouTube. Papers with raised lines can help writers that have difficulty with their penmanship and require an additional tactile prompt to reinforce the writing margins. The benefits of this method is that it is neater than using glue (my original idea) and may be used immediately. This took me about a minute to complete. Also lines can be spaced according to the writers specific needs. A drawback from this method is that although it only takes a minute or so to make, multiples would have to be made and kept on hand if it will be the student's permanent adaptation. This could potentially end up being very time consuming. I have seen some raised paper for purchase but it can be cost could add up. Below are some pictures of the raised line paper.
This is a picture of the backside of the lined paper. I suggest going over the line 2-4 times to create more prominent ridges.
These lines are spaced about 1 inch apart.
This is me using the paper. It worked but maybe the line were a bit to wide. As you may notice my writing became inconsistent with the number writing.
I decided to make a lined paper with less space between the lines. This was easier for me to work with. Remember AT is not one size fits all and that regular assessment is needed to make changes. I quickly assessed the wide lines didn't work for me.
