Computer (tool/online tool/software- reading): Starfall

Hey Everyone,

Today's AT trial is a review of a website named Starfall. Starfall is a non-profit charity program designed to help young children develop their reading skills through the use of visual-audio stimuli. The homepage for Starfall is has specialized levels. The level I trialed was level two.
Level two of Starfall is called Learn to Read. There are 16 levels and each level is dedicated to teaching a particular sound. The levels begin with short vowel then progress into long vowel sounds and blends. This would be a valuable resource for a student that is struggling mastering the basics of reading. This would be a helpful resource to teach CVC, VCV, CCVC and sight words. I like that the this website has a lot of free materials for families and the membership price is only $35 dollars annually. Another benefit of this site is that it does not require any downloads to the computer. This would be helpful because then it could be accessed from multiple computers. However, I could foresee that lack of internet connection could be problematic for some families too.
