Computer (or mobile device)- writing

Hey Everyone,

This posting will be about a computer device/software used to aid the physical writing process. To complete this post I trial I used two applications. The first is a trial of Typing Assistant and Window's OnScreen Keyboard. The Typing Assistant is a free 45 day trial and the keyboard is standard. These two softwares combined could provide access to writing for an individual that has limited motor abilities. If the individual is accessing an onscreen keyboard with the use of a mouse (adapted or not) the number of possible selections on the keyboard would be reduced because the Typing Assistant would predict the next possible word. The user would then have to highlight the appropriate choice. A con to this software is that is does not provide a speech output. This would require the user of this software to have adequate reading skills to select the correct choice. A useful feature that accompanies this program is that it can be customized to the typist's speed and becomes familiar with words that are frequently used. Also helpful is that different users can be selected and the software can be saved to a USB drive for portability. Below are some screenshots of me using the software and going through the mini-training before use (also helpful).

Another plus of this software, it works on the Internet search bar too!

This is a picture of me using the training pages.

This is a picture of the word prediction in action while using the onscreen keyboard. Notice that the "E" is selected and the word "whatever" appeared.

Notice the circled area. Text to Speech option is not supported. :(
